Vouzela Municipal Auditorium

Binaural Nodar announces the presentation of the Digital Memory Archive of Vouzela, a cataloged and mapped repository of hundreds of sound and audiovisual recordings relating to the geographical and cultural contexts of the various parishes in the municipality of Vouzela. This archive, which will be presented on February 21st at 3pm, is in turn part of the Binaural Nodar Digital Archive (www.archive.binauralmedia.org), a more comprehensive repository of around 2,000 documents that has been developed and updated in the context of Binaural Nodar’s participation in the Tramontana European network, which has benefited from support from the Creative Europe program over the years.

The aim of launching this archive is, on the one hand, to stimulate a deeper and more systematized knowledge of the heritage realities of the municipality of Vouzela and, on the other, to stimulate close collaboration with the Municipality of Vouzela and its various parishes and associations, in the development of collection programs on multiple topics of interest, such as agricultural cycles, popular songs, pastoralism, food, the relationship between communities and the rural landscape, among many others.

The documentation catalogued in the Digital Memory Archive of Vouzela is also the result of various projects developed by Binaural Nodar with the Municipality of Vouzela since 2016, when it began its activities in the municipality, These include “Aqui vimos nobre gente” (Here we come, noble people) about the singing of kings and janeiras, “O tempo das coisas” (The time of things), about objects with emotional value (in partnership with the Universidade Sénior de Vouzela), “Templo erguido” (Raised temple), about the construction of the new church of São Miguel do Mato, “À eira” (On the threshing floor) about the rye cycle, and others.
