GYROVAGUS is a research project incorporating artistic creation while crossing the mediums of music, anthropology, psychogeography and cinema. Here, we challenged Rodrigo Malar, a sound designer-performance, and Gonçalo Mota, anthropologist-videomaker, to participate in two bike expeditions between Viana do Castelo and Coimbra with the objective of a face to face meeting with the territory. The project still counts with the support of the actor and musician Henrique Apolinário, in the areas of sound design. The sound and image recollections of said meetings have resulted in “TOUR”, a concert-performance with video projection. GYROVAGUS activates an informal network of partners, by articulating (in their majority) territories which are periphery with the urban centers of Viana do Castelo, Porto and Coimbra, through the use of electric bicycles as a means of transport with a reduced footprint, a view to minimizing the impact on ecosystems and creating informal networks of collaboration, circulation and communication. In this exhibition, the two itinerants will have moments of research, reflection and articulation, combining their observations, artistic and inartistic, with the ones of the natural sphere. These moments take benefit of the handful of partners that includes Binaural Nodar, Linha de Fuga, Associação Cultural e Recreativa DesnorteArte, among others. GYROVAGUS returned to its starting point, Aguda, with a presentation of the show “TOUR”, presented by Associação Cultural e Recreativa Desnorte, on the 28th of July.
