Edições Nodar is a non-profit editorial project related Binaural Nodar’s intervention in different contexts: firstly, the development of exploratory artistic practices in specific contexts, secondly, the articulation with rural communities in the conception of new ethnographic proposals and, thirdly, the identification of forgotten aspects of both the history and memory of the intervention territory in the Portuguese region of Viseu Dão Lafões.
The motivations for the establishment of Edições Nodar were related to the perception that there is a reflection and expression space to be explored that could help to question specific geographical and anthropological contexts and that seeks to reveal the often overlooked tensions between local cultures, such as rural areas, and the counter-pressures arising from an increasingly globalized world.
Edições Nodar publishes since 2010 a variety of works in both physical and digital formats: mp3, ebooks, cd, dvd and books, etc. created, either in the context of the Binaural Nodar Artist Residency Program, related to local partnerships in terms of municipalities, museums, cultural associations and ethnographic groups or those specifically curated for publication.
