Balaced Structures for Composition
The act of working on a piece implicates a conceptualization of balance created through the careful positioning of structural elements. The concept of structure, understanding its role in music making, is the focus of my work in Nodar.
My working definition of structure is: to put together various elements on a timeline to obtain a meaningful development. This way, I will take several compositional approaches to materials recorded on site to examine the ways in which structural variations within a circumscribed set of variables may create multifarious sound experiences.
Antonio Della Marina (Italy) is an electronic composer who focuses on sequences, frequencies and phase of sine waves, and the essential characteristics of sound itself. His work exploits the physical properties of sound, its causality with human perception, and mathematics as they are experienced through music. Since 1998 he has been active in sound art through concerts and sound installations.
