TRAINING IS THE GAME, THE GAME IS EMOTION

Social groups develop codes of communication between their members in more or less spontaneous ways. Competitive sport is a clear example of this ‘language’ of gestures, sounds, words and expressions, which ultimately contributes to shaping the specificity of each context.

Starting from a sport context that she knows well as a player, women’s futsal in the Viseu region, Nely Ferreira, a Binaural Nodar collaborator and a final year student on the Multimedia Technology and Design course at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, developed the artistic creation ‘Training is the game, the game is emotion’ between March and May 2025, which exposes the sound and expressive environment of the women’s futsal team of Cinfães Sports Club.

The project includes sound recordings of training sessions and official matches, interviews with players and coaching staff and a final presentation to the club’s community, with the aim of building an experimental audiovisual work that makes reference to the environments associated with the world of women’s futsal, a context unknown to many people.
