AQUA FEMINA: THE FLOW OF FEMININE RURAL LIFE

On October 15th, 2024, International Rural Women’s Day, the exhibition ‘Aqua Femina: The flow of feminine rural life” opened in the presence of the Minister for Youth and Modernisation of the Portuguese Government, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, the Mayor of Vouzela, Carlos Oliveira, various representatives of local entities and a large audience. The exhibition was presented by the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luis Gomes da Costa.

This exhibition is a tribute to the rural women of Vouzela region, stimulating an understanding of the role of the female universe in defining the worldview of the rural world, using water as an aspect loaded with symbolism, one that is linked to birth, baptism, agricultural work and social life in general.

The exhibition has the support of the Municipality of Vouzela and is also part of the Creative Europe Tramontana Network project, which brings together 11 partners working in mountain areas in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Albania and Poland.
