A co-production between Binaural Nodar and the Local Community of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro, with the support of the Municipality of Vouzela and the Campia Civil Parishes.
As part of its strategy of closely work with communities of the Viseu Dão Lafões region, Binaural Nodar presented the exhibition and documentary “Valuing the Common land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro”, the result of a partnership with the Local Community of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro.
The documentary includes testimonies of former and current leaders, founders, local population and personalities connected to the theme of the common land, communally-owned land whose origins date back to people before the constitution of the nation. In Rebordinho, the first movements to establish a the common land organization date back to 1978, which formally was established in March 1994, thus celebrating three decades of activity.
The previous local elementary school was the setting for the presentation of the project, in an initiative attended by the Secretary of State for Forestry, Rui Ladeira; the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Vouzela, Carlos Oliveira and Marco Dias; Councillor Carla Maia; the President of the Campia Civil Parish, Carlos Duarte; and the President of the Board of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro, Carlos Batista; among others.
The coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, joined in the ceremony, leaving a message in which he praised “the dynamism, organization and outlook for the future” of this local common land organization, giving priority to “a sense of unity in diversity”. As this is the first activity of the Tramontana project, which brings together 11 cultural organizations from eight countries and has as some of its themes the relationship of rural communities with landscape and natural resources, it was announced that the documentary will be subtitled in English and French, helping to “spread the good examples of rural Portugal”.
The Local Community of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro and Binaural Nodar are grateful for the contribution of those who provided documentation for the exhibition: Amadeu Soares, António Carvalho, Celestino Tavares, José Luís Tavares and Regina Soares.
Binaural Nodar is a cultural organization supported by the Portuguese Republic – Culture | Directorate-General for the Arts.
