TWO BROTHERLY HILLS
By Luís Costa
Mixed-media installation
From 22nd May to 5th June 2024
Lafões Cult Lab (Vouzela)

A co-production between Binaural Nodar and the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro, with the support of the Municipality of Vouzela and the Vocational School of Vouzela.

The mixed-media installation “Two Brotherly Hills” that opened on May 22nd is an “ethno-poetic” essay relating the experience of living in two places with people inside, specifically two hills located around three hundred kilometres apart: Pico Sacro, in the municipality of Boqueixón (near Santiago de Compostela, in the Galician province of A Coruña) and Monte de São Macário, in the municipality of São Pedro do Sul (in the Portuguese region of Viseu Dão Lafões).

The opening was attended by a group of students from the Communication and Digital Service Technician course at the Vocational School of Vouzela, who reflected on the multidisciplinary possibilities of creative work in articulation with their own personal memories, which can involve materials, shapes, textures, sounds and images from different sources. Thanks to Professor João Batista, director of the course, for his availability for this authentic practical creativity class.
