TRAJECTORY
A performance by Teatro Do Frio
Premiere, 16th May 2024 (CRL Central Elétrica, Porto)
Co-production FITEI – International Festival of Iberian Expression Theatre and Binaural Nodar

Binaural Nodar was present at the premiere of Teatro do Frio’s performance “Trajetória”, of which Binaural Nodar is a co-producer, which took place on the 16th of May in the context of FITEI.

Trajetória is an audiovisual performance that emerges from the collection of sounds and images, weaving an imaginary line through the trails travelled by bicycle by Rodrigo Malvar (sound designer and performer) and Gonçalo Mota (filmmaker and anthropologist), during the expeditions of the Gyrovagus research project.
“Can you feel beyond yourself?” Footprints. Barks. Voices. “You earn more, but you can’t buy the sun”.
Shortcuts between broom and gorse. Whose wood is this? The promise of a punch. A wall. A stream running between the rocks.
Fishermen remember the shipwreck, “each person is a culture”.
Feeling the hail on your face, in your bones, the movement of an invisible force, being out at sea – what is this about taking your body seriously anyway?
And then there’s the way the hill stokes your chest. Can you feel it?

“Trajetória” is an audiovisual performance as part of the Gyrovagus research project.
The meeting “Back to the Human” invites us to (re)discover the importance of direct contact, generosity and dialogue between human beings.

Over the course of almost 2,000 kilometres of cycling and direct contact with the vegetation and geology north of the Mondego, we encountered the other, also human, people we met who led us to other conversations and imaginations of light for the near future.

The restlessness to talk about the theme “Back to the Human” arose during our first expedition, in July 2023, from our residence at Binaural. It’s a feeling that has remained present throughout the rest of our journeys and that now, after the premiere of “Trajectory”, brings us together in the form of a polyphonic conversation – a conversation that is woven from experiences (territorial, social, creative) that, although they don’t coincide, touch on a significant number of points, revealing a peculiar constellation.

“Back to the Human” is also this challenge to talk to and listen to those people who walk other paths, giving us an understanding of the thickness of the places we pass through and those we connect with while travelling.

The conversation included guests Clara Antunes (ARTEMREDE), Hugo Guiomar (Landscape Architect, Atelier Peninsular) and Luís Costa (Artistic Director, Binaural Nodar).

After the show, the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, took part, along with Catarina Lacerda, Rodrigo Malvar, Clara Antunes and Hugo Guiomar, in a conversation entitled “Back to the Human”, which reflected on the relationship between the geomorphological landscapes travelled and the diversity of lives that inhabit them.
