MEMORY ON WHEELS PRESENTS RESULTS
22nd Anniversary of the Castro Daire Municipal Library
September 1st and 2nd, 2023
Binaural Nodar presented, in the context of the celebration of the 22nd anniversary of the Castro Daire Municipal Library, three results related to initiatives integrated into the Memory on Wheels project, an initiative, developed since 2018 in partnership with the Municipality of Castro Daire, of ethnographic recordings on multiple themes of the life and memory of the region, accompanied by cataloging, archiving, cultural dissemination and heritage education activities.
On Friday, September 1st, the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, presented the publication and documentary “Da Serra para a Fábrica: Memórias castrenses de emigração para Lisboa” (“From the mountain to the factory: Memories of migration from Castro Daire to Lisbon”), both the results of a Creative Europe project on migration to the outskirts of large cities.
On Saturday, September 2nd, Luís Costa was at the Community Center Morenitas de Alva Folkloric Group to present a second documentary, entitled “Sentidos da emigração em Alva e Souto de Alva” (“Senses of Migration in Alva and Souto de Alva”), a devolution to the population of these two villages of the series of interviews conducted during the year on emigration to Europe and America. This set of interviews had the mediation partnership of the Civil Parish Union of Mamouros, Alva and Ribolhos.
