Nogueira de Côta (Viseu)
A co-production between Binaural – Cultural Association of Nodar, with the support of the Social, Sports, Recreational and Cultural Association of Nogueira de Côta, the Parish Council of Côta, co-financed with the Municipality of Viseu.
The event was carried out in an informal rural space, located in the village of Nogueira de Côta. Furthermore, while serving as a conclusion of the artistic creation process carried out by Ana Margarida Ferreira during the residency period, it was simultaneously presented as an academic work for the Master in Contemporary Artistic Creation of the University of Aveiro, a work produced by Binaural Nodar part of a professional internship carried out by the artist in this same association.
The accumulation of lived and “relived” experiences throughout the years can be translated into several different layers of a situation, which can evolve into several different albums/editions of memories but of the same collection. Drop by drop, an ocean is filled, an ocean into which the rivers that never stop flowing, flow. The drop of water remains a constant, even though through its journey, it ends up being classified differently. The repetition of the experience gives birth to one that is familiar, but never the same. You never wear the same garment the same way twice, you never drink the same glass of water, and so on.
In re-enacting a small selection of her range of memories, Ana Margarida Ferreira was careful to always preserve something familiar. Raging from the chosen location, to the parish of Côta, where her family is from, as well as the traditional work clothes, dark suit, scarf and/or straw hat, and not forgetting the choice of models, her two younger siblings (also art students) Nuno Miguel Fareleira and Ana Marta Fareleira. At last taking into account the place of presentation, the garage of her maternal grandparents’ house.
Binaural Nodar is a cultural structure supported by the Portuguese Government – Culture | Directorate-General for the Arts.
