REBORDINHO: A PORTRAYED VILLAGE

Location: Former Primary School of Rebordinho (Campia, Vouzela)
With a co-production between the Binaural Nodar association and the Board of Directors of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro, as well as the ongoing support from the Civil Parish of Campia and the Municipality of Vouzela, “Rebordinho: A portrayed village” ended up being a late wednesday afternoon of dripping with all kinds of emotions, where the main room of the former elementary school was full of enthusiastic spectators, making their way to see the exposition.
Among those present, we were particularly honored to host the president of the Municipality of Vouzela and of the president of the Municipal Assembly of Vouzela, respectively Rui Ladeira and Telmo Antunes; Also present where the Counselor for Culture of the Municipality of Vouzela, Carla Maia, Representing the Civil Parish Council of Campia, Cristina Farias; The president of the Board of Directors of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro, Carlos Batista; in addition to a packed house of local inhabitants and some visitors.
In the middle of many laughs and shared memories, it was possible to view the chronological panel completed with nearly 200 photographs – kindly provided by the community – plus an unraveling documentary, which highlighted the evolution of Rebordinho through the passing of time. The oldest images collected date back to the 1920s, and the most recent ones up to the end of the last century, depicting the Santa Ana Festivities, village customs, festive days, ethnographic traditions, group portraits in a school environment, among others.
Although he was absent from the country, the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, left a mark on the event, with a message highlighting the almost twenty year old association always present with a will to “deliver its best energies in the defense of the heritage of the rural villages of our region”.
“There is a great length of stories, memories and teachings that urgently need to be promoted to the new generations with contemporary methods and tools”, he defended, adding that this exhibition in Rebordinho is “one of the noblest examples of our way of working”.
After the intervention of Liliana Silva, who explained the entire design process of the project conceived by Binaural Nodar, the president of the Board of Directors of the Common Land of Rebordinho and Malhadouro, Carlos Batista, made sure to commend the role of the institution “at the service of the community” concluding that “the house is always open to receive it”. An exhibition that, according to those responsible, shall be continued.
The Mayor of Vouzela praised the importance “of working in partnership with organizations in order to preserve the local rural identity, its memories and culture”. “A community with no memory has no future, and Rebordinho has a future, here is the full community in its different generations and we are very proud of all of them”, concluded.
The exhibition “Rebordinho: A portrayed village” will be open until Sunday, July 30th, between 09h00 and 18h00. From August 1 the exhibition will be available to be visited by appointment, through the mobile phone number 968 704 063.
