MAL DE ULISSES

Artist residency
May 15th – 19th, 2023
The first artist residency of Rui Catalão’s new creation “Mal de Ulisses”, ended last May 19th, in which the playwright, accompanied by journalist Madiu Furtado, interviewed new and old migrants from or living in the municipality of Vouzela and also accessed interviews previously carried out by Binaural Nodar and which are part of the Binaural Nodar Digital Archive.
The artist residency was supported by the Municipality of Vouzela and the Vocational School of Vouzela, and in October there will be a new artist residency and presentation of the project to the community.
With distinct creations, adapted to the presentation venues, and casts comprising immigrants or their descendants, “Mal de Ulisses” is developed in various regions from north to south of the country. This work model advocates the progressive autonomy of local groups.
