A co-production between Binaural Nodar and the Municipality of Castro Daire

On February, 26th, the book “Dancing with the Root: Documenting the Memory of the Folkloric Groups of Castro Daire” was presented at the Municipal Auditorium of Castro Daire. This publication, with 376 pages and more than four hundred photographs, brings together the immense heritage treasure that constitutes the archive collection of eleven folklore groups, including texts, sound recordings, historical documents and photographs, costumes and their description, ethnographic objects, lyrics and description of folk dances, among many others.

This publication forms part of the Memory on Wheels project, a co-production between the Binaural Nodar association and the Municipality of Castro Daire, through its Municipal Library, consisting of sound, photographic and audiovisual collections of aspects of the local cultural heritage, including its dissemination, through an online digital archive (memoria-sobre-rodas.org), as well as other parallel initiatives, such as publications, workshops, exhibitions, artist residencies, performances, etc.

The book Dancing with the Root is supported by the Portuguese Folklore Federation and the European network Réseau Tramontana. Binaural Nodar is a professional cultural organization supported by biennial funding from the General Directorate of Arts.
