Binaural Nodar is pleased to announce that it is a partner of Insitu – Vouzela Nature Image Festival, co-organized by the Municipality of Vouzela, hosting the exhibition “Savana” by José Fragozo between May 6th and 31st at Lafões Cult Lab.
The protagonist of numerous wildlife documentaries, the immensity of the Kenyan savanna is the main ecosystem of the region, housing a wide range of emblematic species, which thrive in a challenging environment full of dangers.
The savannah is dominated by herbaceous vegetation, but also by shrubs and small trees, providing a heterogeneous mosaic of habitats, conducive to the occurrence of remarkable biodiversity, which is distributed according to the different characteristics of the terrain and vegetation cover.
Highly coveted, the observation of the so-called ‘Big Five’ is on the wish list of the vast majority of visitors, who seek a glimpse of the elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and African buffalo, charismatic species of these environments and that feed our imagination of the savannah since childhood. However, there are many more animals there, some better known than others, with varying functions in this ecosystem and with surprising life cycles.
However, this complex environment, as fascinating as it is delicate, is silently suffering from climate change, which is promoting water scarcity, a factor that is dramatically affecting the savannah and its inhabitants, jeopardizing the survival of many species and the balance of the ecosystem itself.
