The opening of the retrospective exhibition “Dancing with the Root” took place on May 11th at the Municipal Library of Castro Daire. The exhibition is a tribute to the folkloric groups of the Castro Daire municipality and it was conceived as a parkour through its archives that include costumes, photos, audios, ethnographic objects, commemorative plaques, posters, newspaper clippings, songbook lyrics, among others.
The presentation of the exhibition was carried out by the cultural councilor at the Municipality of Castro Daire, Idália Ribeiro, by the director of the Municipal Library of Castro Daire, Marta Carvalhal and by the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa.
This exhibition is part of the Memory on Wheels project, a co-production between Binaural Nodar and the Municipality of Castro Daire, through its Municipal Library, consisting of sound, photographic and audiovisual collections of aspects related to the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Castro Daire and in its dissemination and valorization, through an online digital archive, as well as other associated initiatives, such as workshops, exhibitions, artist residencies, performance pieces, etc.
The next step of the project “Dancing with the Root” will consist in the edition of a book that will include the documental memory of the folkloric groups from the Castro Daire municipality, written and drawn from the same collections that where present in the exhibition, one that will be open until the end of May.
