Tramontana III network, an European project led by Binaural – Associação Cultural de Nodar (Viseu Dão Lafões, Portugal) is amongst the winners of European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra prize 2020.
The European Commission and Europa Nostra announced on May 7th, 2020 the winners of the 2020 edition of European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Prize.
The biggest distinction in the heritage field went to 21 exemplary projects from 15 countries, among which is Tramontana Network III in the research category.
Tramontana Network III project, supported by Creative Europe in 2017, is coordinated by Binaural – Associação Cultural de Nodar (Portugal) and involves the following additional partners: Audiolab (Spain), Nosauts de Bigòrra, Numériculture Gascogne e Eth Ostau Comengés (the three from France), Bambun e Associazione LEM-Italia (both from Italy) and Akademia Profil (Poland).
“This project promotes an idea of European identity, and specifically mountain heritage, which is common throughout Europe. It is an excellent example of international cooperation between the researchers with expertise in diverse fields of study. The methodology used in the project is replicable across Europe and has the potential to be applied across the continent”, the Jury said.
Binaural Nodar’s intervention in the scope of this European project was focused in four municipalities of the Portuguese region of Viseu Dão Lafões: Viseu, Vouzela, Castro Daire and São Pedro do Sul, in which many research, creative and educational activities were developed.
On this occasion, we would like to thank the three municipalities that most supported the activities associated with this award: The municipality of Vouzela, where Binaural Nodar has its premises at Lafões Cult Lab, the municipality of Viseu with which Binaural Nodar collaborated with ethnographic and multimedia projects in the municipality’s rural arch and Castro Daire, with which in 2018 a partnership was established for an itinerant ethnography project using the mobile library of the Municipal Library as an audiovisual recording studio, Memory on Wheels project that won the second prize for Good Practices in Public Libraries assigned by the Portuguese General Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB).
