Binaural Nodar and the Municipality of Castro Daire, through its Municipal Library, announce the holding, between October 23th and 26th, 2019, of the international meeting “Beyond Formal Cities”, dedicated to memories and cultural heritage associated with migratory movements to informal neighborhoods of European cities.
This international meeting is held under the Creative Europe project “Where the city loses its name”, which includes as partners Binaural Nodar, LaFundició (Catalonia, Spain) and Fundatia Altart (Cluj, Romania), being the Portuguese case dedicated to the migratory flows of people from Castro Daire to the eastern part of Lisboa, specifically to the Marvila area.
The meeting will will include a session at the Castro Daire Secondary School, a tour of the places of departure for Castro’s emigration and a public session taking place on Friday, October 24th at 6 pm, where memories and life experiences in informal neighborhoods will be shared, having as speakers Mr. Pedro Pontes (councilor for culture in the Municipality of Castro Daire), Luís Costa (coordinator of Binaural Nodar), representatives of the foreign partners LaFundició and Fundatia AltArt, José Augusto Silva from the Residents Association of the PRODAC Neighborhood in Marvila and Ilídio Magueijo from Casa de Castro Daire in Lisbon.
