“A_proxy_mations” is an investigation into the migratory movements from the periphery to the urban center, focusing on Nodar, Portugal, and the city of Pontevedra, in Galicia, Spain. The project will utilize a “lavadouro”, a communal laundering facility, as the interface. There are two phases coexisting in the project: the first of documentation, by which conversations will be recorded on the topic of migration with both the inhabitants of the village and those residing in the city, and a second of installation that will consist of two terminals interconnected via internet, located in a “lavadouro” of Nodar and in a public fountain of Pontevedra. By touching the water in each terminal people will be able to listen to the recorded sounds made in the other place.
