Fingerprinting Sound Memories
A sound reaching a humans ear will get analyzed in our brains and mapped via memory and experience into semantic information. This analyzes is basedon a few obvious parameters: overall loudness-characteristics or envelope,pitch and very important formant-structures. Similar to smelling one can memorize a unique sound of a place. Nodar, Portugal in this special case.The question now is, how much of that information is necessary to provide to make a sound like an acoustic event that is somehow memorized and associated with a special place?
