Sound Tales from the School of Yesterday and Today | Intergenerational Sound Dialogues
Exhibition at Agrupamento de Escolas de Arouca (PT)
European Congress of Geoparks
Exhibition open between 19 and 21 de September 2012
Binaural / Nodar’s educational project Sound Villages which consists in recording, editing and mapping the acoustic heritage of rural villages in parallel with its geographical, historical and socio-cultural survey, is, throughout 2012, giving its attention to intergenerational dialogue within the context of the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Between Generations. The first cycle of the initiative took place in the village of Canelas where students from the 4th grade (Class Can O2) of the local primary school made a set of sound recordings of conversations relating memories of their school and the school of their parents, grandparents or uncles/aujnts.
Within the Context of the European Gongress of Geoparks, an exhibition with the collected and edited sounds will be shown for the second time. The first exhibition took place in the village of Canelas last June 1st 2012.
As a complement, sounds from a previous project developed in 2011 in the same school, within the context of the educational project Aldeias Sonoras that was dedicated to the Paiva river, will be exhibited.
